From us and Taxicab!

dknTChappyNewYear

After a very lazy Christmas morning, we took the most delicious long walk in the later afternoon. The day was dark and stormy, but the rain held off. When we arrived home after dark, a storm of a different kind ensued; then we ate until we just couldn’t move! Hope everyone had an enjoyable day.

Hard to see, but I love the "light trees" that dot the edges of the harbour. This one right at the Coho Terminal, surrounded by flags.

Dark storm clouds out over the Sooke Hills. I wondered if it might be a white Christmas out that way!?

A lovely and traditional tree in the lower lobby. One can also find a beautiful display of vintage photos from the early history of the hotel and the city.

Two days ago, on a rainy and warm December 1, the city threw an outdoor party they called Snow Day. It was a well attended family event in Centennial Square with ice sculptures, large piles of “snow” (probably the Zamboni shavings from local arenas) for sliding and throwing, refreshments and a machine that periodically blasted snowflakes out onto the crowd. It was actually quite magical!

A beautiful snowflake rests on the edge of the fountain at Centennial Square in downtown Victoria for Snow Day.

We walked along the waterfront yesterday. Clear bright day, except along the ocean, where a light fog was rolling in. We managed to take this shot of a rainbow-like formation in the fog. It was very pretty!
