Well that was that. Everything is melting now. Maybe we’ll have some more before this winter is done. Here are a couple more pics from a couple days ago. We didn’t get too far on this walk as we hadn’t worn enough ear protection!

A bit of ice on the harbour made pretty patterns.

View of the Legislative Assembly Building from the lower causeway of the Inner Harbour.

One small cat + one tin foil ball + bath mat = maximum cuteness:

Ooooo, tin foil ball and human to roll it to me!

Oh no, it's under this red thing!

Where is it!?

Get it!

Apologies friends for my snow enthusiasm, especially those of you who live in snowy parts of the world and either take the cold snowy winter in stride or curse it daily. We rarely get any snow. A large number of the people who are not from here but move here would include “mild climate” among their reasons to live in Victoria. I just love the snow. Not just the beauty of it, but how (here anyway) it forces us to just slow down a bit. I’m sorry that it infringes on retail revenue, and sadly can cause terror and injury on the road. But since we have it hardly ever, I’m going to revel in it for as long as it sticks around! A couple pics from the back of our building this morning before it had been too disturbed.

Wish I'd made a snowman before all that fluffy magic was shoveled!

I love the architecture of the building we live in, especially decorated in snow.

What an extraordinary day! Snow, melting, more snow, sun, more snow, and last, clear and very cold! (read treacherously icy sidewalks!) Couldn’t not snap a few more pics of our beautiful city in a delicate wrap of white.

2:35 leaving Ingredients: 5 minutes earlier it was a white out! Big fluffy flakes and lots of them.

3:15, the blizzard has stopped and the sidewalks are already clearing.

At about 4:45, still clear but more snow clouds are gathering.

The cure for a cold day: boozy hot chocolate!

Hooray it’s a snow day! It actually snowed all night, but not much stuck. But now, it is sticking and so beautiful. A few pics from my morning outing:

Starting to stick to the trees across from Munro's Books on Government Street.

We had a nice little dusting of snow yesterday so went for a lovely walk to Fairfield to rendezvous with the egg lady from Terra Nosa Farm, who was down from up island for the day. Came across this beautifully perfect pale pink rose surviving our mild west-coast winter.

Pretty and pink with a sprinkle of snow.

Our beautiful girl shining brightly!

Happy in rays of sunlight; sparkle eyes!

At least once a week we indulge in breakfast out. There are a good number of excellent spots for breakfast in downtown Victoria, but one of our favourites is Mo:Lé on Pandora Avenue. The food is great; the service, tho informal, is exceptional. There are many incredible dishes and lately, several weekly specials, and it’s breakfast and lunch all day which I love. Despite the delicious options, like the Huevos Rancheros and Mo’s Biscuit, we often just have The Basic (free-run eggs prepared perfectly as you like them, yummy pesto roasted potatoes and gooood toast) – GJ always has a side of aioli.

Our "Basics" – yum, yum, yum.

Sadly, our neighbourhood has lost the amazing fibre store called Knotty By Nature as they have moved to new digs in Fairfield. Not too far away, but no longer just around the corner! I stopped by yesterday whilst on my bike ride. The new shop looks great! Everything one would need for knitting, weaving felting, with friendly knowledgeable staff. 1704 Lillian Road off Fairfield, not far from the Fairfield Shopping Centre.

KBN has taken a strange drab space and turned it into a bright and cheery shop.

The front window showcases finished items for sale by many community artisans.

Beautiful roving for spinning or felting.

Met a sweet little cat with a luxurious coat the other night while we were out walking. Also a pic of TC snuggling with GJ.

So snugly!

Sadly, he wouldn't look at the camera; he had the loveliest face!
