We have so many passionate people here in our wee city; artists, musicians, business people all adding to the diversity and interest of this fair town. We popped into Tall TAles Books on Fort Street today. They are a bookstore for children with an excellent selection and wonderful events like regular Storytimes. The store also is a great community participant, supporting local writers and organizing charitable events. Here are some pics and their website:
What an amazing day! We were so fortunate to have tickets to this wonderful event, which was so well organized. Held at the Victoria Conference Centre, the day included 15 live speakers, a sprinkling of recorded televised TED talks from other cities, and three amazing performances: slam poetry by The Victoria Slam Team, dance by Nath Keo and music by Oliver Swain. And if that wasn’t enough, two rooms of interactive art by Limbic Media. Watch for these amazing events in your community; very inspiring stuff!

Here are a few pics from another wintery walk yesterday. Today we’re having a quite a magical storm. Hope to catch a few new pics.
Spent a bit of time helping our friend Linda Sheldon set up for an artisan fair at the University of Victoria. Here are a couple pictures. Check out her work at:
Off on our usual around-the-harbour walk yesterday. It was a brisk day, a bit drizzly. We were delighted to find a harbour seal fishing near one of the small marinas along the way.
Made three yummy desserts for GJ’s birthday; oh so yummy! Left to right: Pudding Cake (Rebar Modern Food Cookbook by Audrey Alsterberg and Wanda Urbanowicz © 2001), Pumpkin Cranberry Bread, wheat-free version (http://www.designsponge.com/2007/11/in-the-kitchen-with-lena-corwin.html), and Chocolate Truffle Cake (Modern Classics Book 2, by Donna Hay © 2003).
