It’s been a busy few months. In June, we worked with our friends artist Gareth Gaudin and Alison at Dales Gallery to create a show of Gareth’s original drawings from the graphic novel Silence Is A Song I Know All The Words To, which is a collaboration with spoken-word poet Shane Koyczan. The original drawings are now available for purchase here. I’ve been making a lot of new jewellery; some goes up on the online store, some to Eclectic Gallery in Oak Bay, and some we keep around for our open studios which we’ve been having about once a month. GJ’s been very prolific making sculpture. He’s working on a figurative piece today and has two new kinetic pieces, one of which you can see in action here. GJ also submitted recently to Dug North: The Automata Blog and had one of his kinetic pieces featured; very exciting!
Here are a few of the things I’ve been working on in the last month. These seven went to Eclectic Gallery in Oak Bay.
A friend recently gave me a string of hematite to use in a new design for her. Here is the happy result:
I’ve been wanting to create better, more interesting shots of my jewellery. Here are a couple attempts of two new pieces.
These two new pieces began as a commission for my sister. She sent me the most gorgeous red pearls and asked me to make something from them. I really enjoyed this one, so I made two. She loved them so much, she took both and gave one away as a birthday gift.

We have just set up a new online shop through Big Cartel. We’ll be selling my jewellery and paintings; prints and postcards of GJ’s drawings and perhaps some originals; some collaborative pieces. There aren’t many items in the shop yet, but we’ll be adding a lot more over the next few days and weeks. Here’s what’s there now:
Here are a few of my newest pieces. Hoping to make at least a dozen more before a special event at Arrogant Pirate, the shop which carries my designs.

This piece was commissioned by a friend who had a special memento coin from her family. GJ wrapped the coin in wire and I hung it from gorgeous blue apatite stones and moonstones with pale teal embroidery floss. © Firehorse Designs

This antique watch chain with medallion and encased coin wanted to be hung as a necklace. I added a smokey-blue length of suede into which I sewed tiny seed pearls. I also added a grouping of pearls to the chain. This piece was commissioned as a gift and the recipient was very pleased. © Firehorse Designs
More new work from the last few weeks, also all over at Arrogant Pirate. In the next week or so I hope to take some pictures of these being worn so the length can be seen.
