Another set, new finished piece and a new start

Three strands of freshwater pearls in pale pink, peach, mauve and magenta with accents of dyed magenta jade and silver cast hearts by Steve Mehle.

These cast silver hearts are by artisan Steven Mehle who hand fabricates gorgeous jewelry in Peggy’s Cove Nova Scotia.

I’ve had this beautiful silver three-strand clasp for a while. The original necklace I built for it didn’t work, so I’m trying it on this one. I just hope it’s strong enough to hold all these pearls!

Today I was working with fresh-water pearls and a casting of GJ’s.

The finished piece from a few days ago; glass faux pearls, freshwater pearls, miscellaneous glass, crystal and metal pieces.

Eight-millimetre freshwater pearls, black agate, labradorite and a lead-free pewter male torso casting by GJ Pearson.

Fun Wednesday Walk

The sky cleared a bit yesterday so we took the opportunity to enjoy our usual harbour-front walk. Here are a few of the sights we enjoyed.

This is Gemma. We couldn’t resist crossing the street to meet her. She was so sweet, soft and wiggly!

Oyster catchers! It had been a wile since we had seen any of these cool birds.

Gulls and waves, looking east.

There were so many gulls hovering around this area. We were trying to see what was attracting them. It wasn’t until we got a ways beyond this point that we saw someone was sitting just below this spot feeding them.

Looking west toward Ogden Point and the Sooke Hills.

We found this little path of crocus last year in Beacon Hill Park. It’s a bit bigger this year!

Homemade Pastry Pops

We enjoyed another delicious breakfast at Clay Pigeon in Victoria BC yesterday. They have a new treat and we couldn’t resist trying one. It’s a homemade pastry reminiscent of those packaged toaster goodies my mother would reluctantly buy once in a while if we pleaded long enough. These were superb!
