We were very sad yesterday to take down our show at Dales Gallery. We had so much fun and met so many interesting people. While we were there, we had a chance to take some video recordings of the new and adapted pieces and update GJ’s youtube channel with new films. The rest of the summer is ahead and we feel excited about the momentum generated during our time at Dales. Thanks to everyone at the gallery for their support!
A few shots from around our beautiful city on a gorgeous summer’s day.

Two families of Canada geese – two parents and two babies each – sunning themselves near Fisherman’s Wharf.

Lavender everywhere right now. This grouping in the planter boxes by the fish pond at The Parkside on Humboldt.
Another amazing week of Pride festivities this year, culminating in yesterday’s parade and festival. Congratulations to the organizers and all who partook in the fun.
We were so pleased to read an amazing review of GJ’s work by Robert Amos in this morning’s Time Colonist. Heading into our second full week of the show at Dales Gallery. We shot lots of video yesterday and hope to have a few new films on GJ’s YouTube channel next week.
Last week GJ and I set up our new show at Dales Gallery, a block from our studio in Chinatown. The show is mostly of GJ’s kinetic sculptures spanning the last few years of work. He also has some of his sigils and paintings and we made some prints and postcards as well. I had a couple abstract watercolours from 2008 and painted five new ones as well. We also included a few copies of a hand-bound book I made of GJ’s Spirits of the Mechanical Age sculpture series from a few years ago. We had a great day at the opening on Saturday. Lots of visitors seemed delighted in our work, especially in the magical nature of the kinetic pieces. Here are a few pics. Will post more pics of specific pieces and links to new videos throughout the next week.
Made a change from our usual walk by heading out over the Blue Bridge to Vic West. We followed the first part of the Galloping Goose Trail to where it connects with Banfield Park. It was a lovely sunny day and we sat on the grass with a dear friend and her darling daughter.

Walking across the Blue Bridge to connect with the first part of the Galloping Goose Trail. This bridge is often seen in photos I post taken from across the water on the walkway that follows the south side of the harbour past Fisherman’s Wharf and onto the waterfront walk on Dallas Drive. The land on the right side of the photo is the Songhees land which has the lovely Westsong Walkway to Westbay Marina.

Such a beautiful morning at the Dallas Road waterfront. The ocean was calm and the Olympic Mountains were glimmering in the morning sun. Just after I took this, I met Fred the west-highland terrier and his human. Fred sat by my feet while I spoke with his human; I wish I had remembered to take his picture as he was so very sweet.
